Halloween is almost here, and if you're hoping to leave the heavy jacket at home this year, you might be in luck!

NOAA's Climate Prediction Center (CPC) has released its latest 8–14 day outlook for October 30 through November 5, and warmer-than-average temperatures are favored across much of the central and eastern United States.

🎃 A Warm Halloween for the East?

A weather pattern favoring warmer temperatures is expected to stick around across the eastern half of the country heading into early November.

Above-average temperatures are also favored across much of the Great Plains and eastern portions of the Southwest.

Meanwhile, most of the western U.S. is expected to see temperatures closer to what's typical for this time of year, although Southern California's coast has a slight tilt toward warmer conditions.

Keep in mind that above-average temperatures don't necessarily mean it'll feel hot! It simply means temperatures are favored to be warmer than what's typical for late October and early November in your area.

🌧️ What About Rain?

While temperatures may be running warmer than normal, that doesn't mean everyone will stay dry.

NOAA's outlook also favors above-average precipitation across much of the country, particularly California, the Southwest, and Southern Plains.

Wetter-than-average conditions are also favored across the Midwest, Southeast, and southern Mid-Atlantic.

But don't cancel those trick-or-treating plans just yet! This outlook covers an entire week, so it doesn't tell us exactly when or where rain will fall on Halloween night.

That's still a little too early to say!

NOAA gives this extended outlook an average confidence rating of 3 out of 5. While the overall weather pattern is becoming clearer, the details can still change as Halloween approaches.

And remember, even if temperatures are warmer than average, evenings can still get chilly once the sun goes down.
